A recent survey of New York Giants fans reveals a clear preference for acquiring defensive line help before the trade deadline, even as media reports highlight running back options. Big Blue View reports that nearly an equal number of supporters favor acquiring a defensive tackle compared to the total of the following three position choices.

While the Giants hold a 4-2-1 record and lead the NFC East, the defensive interior remains a specific area of focus for upgrades. In a FOX Sports article named " One Player Every Playoff Hopeful Should Target ," the Giants' best option was identified as Indianapolis Colts defensive tackle Grover Stewart. With Chauncey Golston sidelined for the season, the 33-year-old Stewart would enhance run defense and add crucial depth to the middle of the defensive line for the Giants.

Fantasy impact

Adding an interior defensive lineman like Stewart would directly boost the run defense, potentially limiting the yardage allowed by opposing running backs. The Giants already have D.J. Reader returning to form and Shelby Harris playing a solid role next to him. However, the lack of depth was highlighted by Big Blue View, which noted that the prospect of a "Malachi Fields, Darnell Mooney, Jalin Hyatt" receiving corps isn't exactly thrilling, suggesting the team might be more cautious with resources elsewhere.

For fantasy managers, a stronger run defense could mean fewer rushing yards and touchdowns for opposing running backs in upcoming matchups. The Giants are scheduled to play the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday, Nov. 8, at 1 p.m. ET at Lincoln Financial Field. A fortified defensive line could make this a difficult game for the Eagles' ground game.

What to do

Hold your fantasy running backs against the Giants until the trade deadline passes on Tuesday, Nov. 10. The team is actively seeking defensive tackle help to stop the run, which could severely limit the production of opposing ball carriers in the upcoming Week 9 matchup.
