Jordan Love leads NFL in passing despite Packers' offensive struggles
Jordan Love tops the league in passing yards and touchdowns despite poor protection and receiver drops, making him a must-start fantasy QB.

Green Bay Packers quarterback Jordan Love is leading the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns despite significant offensive struggles around him. Love currently holds the league lead with 2,246 passing yards and 16 passing touchdowns through the first eight weeks of the 2026 season.
Love's elite production comes while operating under the worst pass protection in the league. His receivers have also struggled significantly, as the team leads the NFL with 18 drops. Matthew Golden alone has eight of those drops, a figure that has artificially suppressed Love's completion percentage.
Fantasy impact
The drop issues and poor protection have not stopped Love from posting MVP-caliber numbers. If his receivers had caught just half of those 18 drops, his completion percentage would rise to 64.8%, per Yahoo Sports. Against Carolina, Watson recorded 113 yards on eight catches from 10 targets, marking a career high.
During the second quarter, Watson was hit hard by two defenders, knocking the wind out of him and causing him to cough up blood on the sideline. He underwent a CT scan that confirmed a broken rib but ruled out internal bleeding. The Lambeau Field crowd cheered loudly when Watson came back onto the field before the third quarter ended. Love expressed shock at the return, saying, "Man, that was crazy. It was a lot of people cheering… I didn't know what was happening. Then I see Christian running out, and he's just resurrected. It was great to see him," Love said.
What to do
He leads the NFL in passing yards and touchdowns despite his offensive line giving him just 2.48 seconds to throw per play. His connection with Christian Watson remains strong even after Watson's scary injury and dramatic return.
Even with the Packers' run game ranking last in the league at 60.6 yards per game, Love's value stays high.
