The Carolina Panthers made two major coaching changes just hours after their 27-19 loss to the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. For the rest of the season, defensive line coach Todd Wash will act as interim defensive coordinator and call defensive plays.

This decision follows Jordan Love's performance against Carolina's defense, where he passed for nearly 300 yards and three touchdowns. The Panthers have allowed 27.6 points per game through seven contests, ranking sixth-most in the NFL. This follows back-to-back losses where Carolina was outscored 70-32, dropping their record to 3-4.

Fantasy impact

The firing of Evero suggests the Panthers will attempt to fix a defense that surrendered 280 passing yards to Green Bay. With Todd Wash taking over play-calling duties, the defensive scheme may shift to better protect the secondary. However, the unit remains depleted by injuries, with Jaycee Horn, Mike Jackson, and Akayleb Evans all on injured reserve.

ESPN's Mike Kaye reported that the Panthers are evaluating their offensive line after Bryce Young faced constant pressure. In the loss, the offensive line permitted pressure on 47% of Young's dropbacks, resulting in six sacks.

What to do

Hold Bryce Young despite the recent struggles, as the coaching staff is actively looking to adjust the offensive line to improve his protection. The team has inactive players such as Damien Lewis, and the front office is aware of the pressure issues and is seeking solutions.

Monitor the roster moves over the next few days, as the team could trade for a veteran corner or adjust the starting five on the line. The long break until the next game gives the staff time to implement these changes before facing another opponent.
