The Indianapolis Colts are exploring a trade for running back Jonathan Taylor, according to FOX Sports NFL insider Jay Glazer, who reported the news on Sunday. After general manager Chris Ballard was dismissed and defensive tackle DeForest and guard Quenton Nelson were recently traded, the team is in a fire sale. Taylor remains one of the most productive backs in the league at 27 years old, making him a prime target for teams needing help at the position.

Several franchises, such as the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, and New York Giants, have already shown interest in acquiring Taylor. Fox Sports also highlights the Seattle Seahawks as a potential destination, noting that general manager John Schneider did not re-sign Kenneth Walker III in free agency. The Seahawks are currently averaging 3.86 rushing yards per play, which ranks 23rd in the NFL entering Week 8.

Fantasy impact

A trade for Taylor would drastically change the fantasy landscape for the Indianapolis Colts and any team that acquires him. The Colts have already traded for All-Pro guard Quenton Nelson, and Schneider previously worked with Colts interim general manager Dodds while in Seattle, suggesting a strong relationship exists to facilitate a deal. However, Seattle's immediate need is complicated by the return of running backs Jadarian Price from a chest injury and Zach Charbonnet from a knee injury this week.

If Taylor moves, his new team gains a high-volume workhorse, while the Colts would likely see a significant drop in rushing efficiency. The move would also relieve pressure on quarterbacks like Sam Darnold, who need a consistent running game to lean on and take pressure off the passing attack.

What to do

Hold Jonathan Taylor in all leagues until a trade is officially announced or his role is clarified. The uncertainty surrounding his future makes him too risky to start or drop until the situation resolves. Fantasy managers should monitor the trade deadline closely as multiple teams have expressed interest in securing his services.

A trade could happen quickly given the Colts' willingness to move him and the active nature of general manager John Schneider.
