Justin Jefferson's Fantasy Value Slips as Vikings Pass Game Struggles

Week 8 arrives with fresh concerns regarding Justin Jefferson's role in the Minnesota Vikings offense. Matt Bowen of ESPN notes that the Vikings pass game lacks a clear identity, leading to a significant drop in Jefferson's output. The wide receiver opened the season with 31.2 fantasy points against the Green Bay Packers, but his production has cooled considerably since.

Since quarterback Kyler Murray has played three full games, Jefferson has averaged just 10.8 fantasy points per game. This decline comes alongside a reduction in targets, as Jefferson has seen only 5.3 targets per game during this stretch. Bowen highlights that Jefferson has recorded only two targets inside the red zone over these three contests.

Fantasy impact

Jefferson is no longer viewed as a clear top-tier option in fantasy lineups. His red zone usage has stalled, and the offensive scheme has not generated the expected rhythm for him to finish as a top-15 wide receiver. The lack of double-digit target games this season suggests a shift in how the offense utilizes its star receiver.

Bowen previously described Corum as a running back with some value in deeper formats. However, Corum's recent usage and production have altered that early-season assessment.

What to do

Sit Justin Jefferson as a WR2 this week given his recent target share and red zone limitations. The offense has not provided him with enough opportunities to rebound to his Week 1 form.

Monitor the Vikings' offensive line performance and quarterback stability for future weeks.
